विंशकुदीपौच्चगुणाच्छाया शंकूद्धृता भवेत् । दीपशंक्वंतरं चाथ च्छायाग्रविवरघ्नभा ॥ ५८ ॥
viṃśakudīpauccaguṇācchāyā śaṃkūddhṛtā bhavet | dīpaśaṃkvaṃtaraṃ cātha cchāyāgravivaraghnabhā || 58 ||
Ang aninong sinusukat sa śaṅku (gnomon) ay dapat ituring na dalawampung ulit ng taas ng ilawan. Pagkaraan, ang pagitan ng ilawan at śaṅku ay itinatakda ayon sa (kinuwentang) liwanag na nag-aalis ng siwang hanggang sa dulo ng anino.
