Jyotiṣa-śāstra Saṅgraha: Threefold Division, Gaṇita Methods, Muhūrta, and Planetary Reckoning
ज्याव्यासयोगविवराहतमूलोनितोऽर्द्धितः । व्यासः शरः शरोनाञ्च व्यासाच्छरगुणात्पदम् ॥ ४७ ॥
jyāvyāsayogavivarāhatamūlonito'rddhitaḥ | vyāsaḥ śaraḥ śaronāñca vyāsāccharaguṇātpadam || 47 ||
Kunin ang ugat-parisukat ng pagkakaibang nalilikha sa pagbawas ng parisukat ng radyus mula sa parisukat ng kuwerdas (jyā), at saka hatiin sa dalawa—ito ang “palaso” (śara). Mula sa palaso at diyametro (vyāsa) na pinagsama, ayon sa katangian ng kuwerdas ng busog, nakukuha ang kinakailangang sukat (pada).
