It teaches that properly performed worship (vidhāna-pūjā) can yield merits equal to the results of many Vedic sacrifices, and it highlights Āśvina śukla-dvitīyā as a particularly sacred time for such observance.
By emphasizing pūjā done “according to injunction,” the verse presents devotional worship as a potent, accessible means of earning great religious merit—comparable to elaborate sacrificial rites—when performed with correct procedure and reverence.
It points to calendrical and ritual precision—tithi (lunar day), pakṣa (fortnight), and māsa (month)—which aligns with Vedāṅga Jyotiṣa (Vedic astronomy/astrology) and the broader discipline of ritual procedure.
