Adhyaya 62 — The Fire-God Enters the Brahmin Youth; Varuthini’s Love-Sickness and Kali’s Disguise
मया समेत्य रम्येऽस्मिन् महाकन्दरकन्दरे ।
मत्परित्राणजं धर्ममवश्यं प्रतिपत्स्यसे ॥
mayā sametya ramye 'smin mahā-kandara-kandare | mat-paritrāṇa-jaṃ dharmam avaśyaṃ pratipatsyase ||
Magsama kayo sa akin sa marikit na malaking yungib na ito; tiyak ninyong isasagawa ang dharma na isinilang mula sa aking pag-iingat, ang tungkuling nakaugat sa aking pagprotekta.

The rhetoric ‘dharma born of protection’ can be read as a warning: power dynamics can rename dependence as virtue. True dharma does not require secrecy and pressure.
Ākhyāna; it indirectly teaches dharma by exposing counterfeit-dharma language in interpersonal contexts.
The ‘cave’ is a symbol of the hidden psyche where impulses seek privacy. ‘Protection’ can signify the ego’s promise of safety in exchange for surrender—an inner bondage presented as refuge.
