Adhyaya 53 — Rudrasarga and the Measure of the Manvantaras: Svayambhuva Manu, Priyavrata’s Line, and the Seven Dvipas
मन्वन्तरप्रमाणञ्च इत्येतत् साधिकं विना ।
अष्टौ शतसहस्राणि दिव्यया संख्यया स्मृतम् ॥
manvantarapramāṇañ ca ity etat sādhikaṃ vinā | aṣṭau śatasahasrāṇi divyayā saṃkhyayā smṛtam
At ang sukat ng isang Manvantara na ito—hindi kasama ang “dagdag” (sādhika) na bahagi—ay inaalala bilang walong daang libo sa banal na pagtutuos ng mga deva.
Different scales of time are not contradictions but pedagogical frames: the same cosmic order is narrated to match the listener’s capacity.
Manvantara: technical specification of duration, including how the ‘added’ interval is treated in reckoning.
‘Divine count’ implies a perspective shift: when consciousness is elevated, what seems immeasurably long becomes a graspable unit—time is relative to the knower.
