Adhyaya 38 — Dattatreya on Non-Identification (Mamata) and the Path to Liberation
धनधान्यमहापत्रो नैककालप्रवर्धितः ।
पुण्यापुण्याग्रपुष्पश्च सुखदुःखमहाफलः ॥
dhanadhānyamahāpatro naikakālapravardhitaḥ |
puṇyāpuṇyāgrapuṣpaśca sukhaduḥkhamahāphalaḥ ||
Ang malalaking dahon nito ay kayamanan at butil, na lumago sa maraming panahon. Ang mga bulaklak sa dulo ng sanga ay kabutihan at kasalanan, at ang malalaking bunga nito ay ligaya at sakit.

Even ‘good outcomes’ (wealth, merit) remain within the same tree of appropriation if rooted in ego; they mature into alternating pleasure and pain.

Merit and demerit are shown as blossoms on the same structure of doership/ownership; transcendence requires stepping beyond the entire karmic arbor, not optimizing its fruits.
