Draupadī’s Lament and Indictment of Misfortune
अथाब्रवीदू राजपुत्रीं कौरव्यो महिषीं प्रियाम् । केनास्यर्थेन सम्प्राप्ता त्वरितेव ममान्तिकम्
athābravīd rājakanyāṃ kauravyo mahiṣīṃ priyām | kenāsyarthena samprāptā tvariteva mamāntikam ||
Sinabi ni Vaiśampāyana: Pagkaraan, nagsalita ang prinsipe ng Kuru sa mahal niyang prinsesa, sa minamahal niyang reyna: “Sa anong dahilan ka naparito sa akin nang gayong kabilis? Sabihin mo nang malinaw, upang maunawaan ko ang lahat.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights responsible inquiry and protective duty: before acting, one should ask the cause clearly and understand the full situation—especially when a loved one appears distressed—so that response can be guided by dharma rather than impulse.
In the Kīcaka episode of the Virāṭa Parva, Draupadī approaches Bhīma urgently. Bhīma (addressed as a Kuru prince) asks why she has come in haste and seeks a full explanation, setting up the ensuing counsel and action against wrongdoing.
