अध्याय ९० — लोमशोपदेशः तथा तीर्थयात्रानिश्चयः
Lomaśa’s Counsel and the Resolve for Pilgrimage
तत्रैव भरतो राजा चक्रवर्ती महायशा: । विंशति: सप्त चाष्टी च हयमेधानुपाहरत्,वहीं महायशस्वी चक्रवर्ती राजा भरतने पैंतीस अश्वमेधयज्ञोंका अनुष्ठान किया
tatraiva bharato rājā cakravartī mahāyaśāḥ | viṁśatiḥ sapta cāṣṭī ca hayamedhān upāharat |
Wika ni Dhaumya: “Doon din, ang maringal na emperador na si Bharata—ang cakravartin, ang naghaharing pangkalahatan—ay nagsagawa ng dakilang hanay ng Aśvamedha: dalawampu’t pito, at dagdag pang walo, kaya’t tatlumpu’t lima lahat.”
धौम्य उवाच
The verse underscores rājadharma: an ideal emperor sustains social and cosmic order through disciplined governance and sanctioned public rites. Bharata’s repeated Aśvamedhas symbolize expansive responsibility, generosity, and the pursuit of merit through lawful means.
Dhaumya is describing King Bharata’s greatness, stating that Bharata, famed as a cakravartin, performed thirty-five Aśvamedha sacrifices at that very place, emphasizing his extraordinary imperial stature and ritual accomplishment.
