Dharma-śaṅkā-nivāraṇa: Yudhiṣṭhira’s Response on Karma-Phala and Trust in Dharma

दृश्यते हि हठाच्चैव दिष्टाच्चार्थस्य संतति: । किंचिद्‌ दैवाद्धठात्‌ किंचित्‌ किंचिदेव स्वभावत:,क्योंकि यह देखा जाता है कि हठ तथा दैवसे सब कार्योकी धारावाहिक रूपसे सिद्धि हो रही है। जो लोग तत्त्वज्ञ एवं कुशल हैं, वे प्रतिज्ञापूर्वक कहते हैं कि मनुष्य कुछ फल दैवसे, कुछ हठसे और कुछ स्वभावसे प्राप्त करता है। इस विषयमें इन तीनोंके सिवा कोई चौथा कारण नहीं है

dṛśyate hi haṭāccaiva diṣṭāccārthasya santatiḥ | kiñcid daivād dhaṭāt kiñcit kiñcid eva svabhāvataḥ ||

Wika ni Yudhiṣṭhira: “Sapagkat tunay na nakikita na ang daloy ng mga pangyayari at ang pagkamit ng bunga ay minsang nagmumula sa matinding pagpupunyagi ng tao at minsan naman sa itinakda ng kapalaran. May mga bungang nakakamit ang tao dahil sa kalooban ng banal (daiva), may dahil sa matatag na pagsisikap, at may dahil lamang sa sariling likas na pagkatao. Higit sa tatlong ito, wala nang ikaapat na sanhi sa bagay na ito.”
