Dharma-śaṅkā-nivāraṇa: Yudhiṣṭhira’s Response on Karma-Phala and Trust in Dharma
न चैवैतावता कार्य मन्यन्त इति चापरे | अस्ति सर्वमदृश्यं तु दिष्टं चैव तथा हठ:,दूसरे लोगोंकी मान्यता इस प्रकार है कि मनुष्यके प्रयत्नकी कोई आवश्यकता नहीं है। अदृश्य दैव (प्रारब्ध) तथा हठ--ये दो ही सब कार्योंके कारण हैं
na caivaitāvatā kāryaṃ manyanta iti cāpare | asti sarvam adṛśyaṃ tu diṣṭaṃ caiva tathā haṭhaḥ ||
At may iba pa na naniniwalang hindi na kailangan ang pagsisikap ng tao. Sinasabi nilang ang lahat ay nagaganap lamang sa pamamagitan ng di-nakikita—tadhana (ang itinakda)—at sa pamamagitan ng matigas na pagkapit o puwersa ng kalooban; ang dalawang ito lamang, ayon sa kanila, ang sanhi ng lahat ng gawain.
युधिछिर उवाच
The verse reports a view that denies the necessity of human effort, attributing outcomes to unseen destiny (diṣṭa/adṛśya) and to sheer force or obstinate will (haṭha).
