अध्याय ३० — क्रोधदोषाः क्षमाप्रशंसा च
Defects of Anger and the Praise of Forbearance
न हि तेडध्यगमज्जातु तदानीं नाद्य भारत | धर्मात् प्रियतरं किंचिदपि चेज्जीवितादिह,भरतकुलतिलक! आपके भाइयोंने न तो पहले कभी और न आज ही धर्मसे अधिक प्रिय दूसरी किसी वस्तुको समझा है। अपितु धर्मको जीवनसे भी बढ़कर माना है
na hi te 'dhyagamaj jātu tadānīṃ nādya bhārata | dharmāt priyataram kiṃcid api cej jīvitād iha ||
Wika ni Yudhiṣṭhira: “O Bhārata, kailanman—noon man o ngayon—hindi inakala ng iyong mga kapatid na may anumang higit na mahal kaysa sa dharma. Tunay, sa mundong ito itinuring nilang ang dharma ay higit pa sa buhay mismo.”
युधिछिर उवाच
The verse asserts that dharma is the highest value: the righteous path is to be cherished above all possessions and even above one’s own life. It presents moral integrity as the defining measure of nobility.
Yudhiṣṭhira is defending the character and priorities of his brothers, emphasizing that they have consistently chosen dharma over personal gain or survival, thereby framing their actions and identity around unwavering ethical commitment.
