ब्राह्मणानुयात्रा—शौनकोपदेशः

Brāhmaṇas Follow into Exile and Śaunaka’s Instruction

मनोदेहसमुत्थाभ्यां दुःखाभ्यामर्दितं जगत्‌ । तयोव्याससमासा भ्यां शमोपायमिमं शृणु,“सारा जगत्‌ मानसिक और शारीरिक दु:खोंसे पीडित है। उन दोनों प्रकारके दुःखोंकी शान्तिका यह उपाय संक्षेप और विस्तारसे सुनिये

manodehasamutthābhyāṃ duḥkhābhyām arditaṃ jagat | tayor vyāsasamāsābhyāṃ śamopāyam imaṃ śṛṇu |

Wika ni Vaiśampāyana: “Ang buong daigdig ay pinahihirapan ng dalawang uri ng pagdurusa—yaong nagmumula sa isip at yaong nagmumula sa katawan. Ngayon, pakinggan ninyo ang paraan ng pagpapayapa sa mga ito, na ipaliliwanag kapwa sa maikling buod at sa mas malawak na paglalahad.”
