The Saugaṇdhika Lotus and Bhīma’s Approach to Hanūmān

Educational Q&A

Power is presented as ethically meaningful when it is used in service of dharma—here, supernatural strength is directed toward protecting and assisting a vulnerable group, including Brahmins, rather than toward intimidation or self-display.

Ghaṭotkaca reassures the party that transport and protection are not difficult: he is not alone, and many brave, airborne, shape-shifting companions are with him, capable of carrying everyone together along with the Brahmins.
