अस्मिन्नृषभकूटे5 भूदूषभो नाम तापस: । अनेकशतवर्षायुस्तपस्वी कोपनो भृशम्
asminn ṛṣabhakūṭe bhūdūṣabho nāma tāpasaḥ | anekaśata-varṣāyus tapassvī kopano bhṛśam ||
Wika ni Lomaśa: “Sa tuktok na ito ng Ṛṣabhakūṭa ay may isang asetang nagngangalang Bhūdūṣabha. Nabuhay siya nang daan-daang taon, sagana sa pag-aayuno at pagninilay, subalit labis na madaling magalit.”
लोगमश उवाच
The verse juxtaposes great tapas and longevity with intense anger, implying an ethical warning: spiritual power or austerity is incomplete without mastery over krodha (anger) and inner restraint.
Lomasa begins (or continues) a tale by introducing the setting—Ṛṣabhakūṭa—and the key figure, the long-lived ascetic Bhūdūṣabha, characterized as highly austere yet extremely irascible, foreshadowing a conflict or moral episode driven by anger.
