Kṛṣṇa at Duryodhana’s House: Refusal of Hospitality and Departure to Vidura (कृष्णस्य धार्तराष्ट्रनिवेशनगमनम्)
त्वंत्राता त्वं महद् ब्रह्म त्वयि सर्व प्रतिष्ठितम् । यथैवात्थ तथैवैतत् त्वयि सत्यं भविष्यति
tvaṁ trātā tvaṁ mahad brahma tvayi sarva pratiṣṭhitam | yathaivāttha tathaivaitat tvayi satyaṁ bhaviṣyati ||
Sinabi ni Vaiśampāyana: “Ikaw ang tagapagtanggol; ikaw ang dakilang Brahman. Sa iyo nakatindig at nakasalig ang lahat. Gaya ng iyong sinabi, gayon nga ang mangyayari—sa mismong iyong pag-iral, ito’y magiging katotohanan.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse affirms an ideal of ultimate moral and metaphysical reliability: the addressed person is praised as protector and as the grounding principle (Brahman), so that their spoken word is trusted to become truth. Ethically, it elevates truthfulness and responsible authority—speech aligned with dharma is treated as world-sustaining.
In Vaiśampāyana’s narration, someone is being extolled with reverential praise, emphasizing their protective role and supreme stature. The speaker expresses confidence that whatever this person has declared will certainly come to pass, because all support and stability are said to rest in them.
