Yudhiṣṭhira’s Post-Accession Settlements and Approach to Vāsudeva
The verse highlights a dharmic sequence: first pacify and win the confidence of the community, then approach the truly noble (mahātmā) with humility (kṛtāñjaliḥ) to seek guidance—showing that ethical leadership combines public reconciliation with reverent openness to wise counsel.
After making the entire city and its people favorable and calm, the person in focus goes to Vāsudeva (Kṛṣṇa) and approaches him respectfully with folded hands, indicating a request, submission, or readiness to receive instruction.
