Prāyaścitta-vidhāna: Tapas, Dāna, Vrata, and Proportional Expiation (प्रायश्चित्तविधानम्)

परिवित्तीनां पुंसां च बन्दिद्यूतविदां तथा | “जिन्हें किसी समाज या गाँवने दोषी ठहराया हो

parivittīnām puṁsāṁ ca bandidyūtavidāṁ tathā |

Sabi ni Vyāsa: Maging ang pagkain ng ilang lalaki ay hindi dapat tanggapin—yaong hinatulang may sala ng kanilang pamayanan o nayon; yaong nabubuhay sa pakikisama sa isang mananayaw; yaong nananatiling binata kahit nakapag-asawa na ang nakababatang kapatid (salungat sa wastong kaayusan); yaong kumikita bilang mga bard/panegirista; at yaong mga sugarol. Ang aral ay pag-ingatan ang kalinisan sa pagtanggap ng pagkain at kaloob, sapagkat ang pagtanggap ay tila pakikibahagi sa pamumuhay ng nagbibigay.
