Mahābhārata 12.347

वेदश्रुति: प्रणष्टा च पुनरध्यापिता सुतै: । ततस्ते मन्त्रदा: पुत्रा: पितृत्वमुपपेदिरे

vedaśrutiḥ praṇaṣṭā ca punaradhyāpitā sutaiḥ | tataste mantradāḥ putrāḥ pitṛtvamupapedirē ||

Wika ni Nārada: Ang banal na tradisyong Veda—yaong narinig at ipinasa—ay minsang nawala, at pagkatapos ay itinuro muli ng sarili nilang mga anak. Kaya ang mga anak na iyon—na naging tagapagkaloob ng mga mantra—ay umako ng katayuang tulad ng mga ama, sapagkat ibinalik nila sa matatanda ang kaalamang Veda na siyang pinagmumulan ng kapangyarihang espirituwal.
