Adhyāya 325: Nārada in Śvetadvīpa—Stotra to the Nirguṇa Mahātman
कालोपपन्नेन तदा स्वाद्धन्नेना भ्यतर्पयन् । उन्होंने पाद्य, अर्घ्ध आदि निवेदन करके उत्तम विधिसे शुकदेवजीका पूजन किया और उन्हें समयानुकूल स्वादिष्ठ अन्न भोजन कराकर पूर्णतः तृप्त किया
kālopapannena tadā svādu-annenābhyatarpayat | pādya-arghyādi-nivedanena ca uttama-vidhinā śukadevaṃ pūjayām āsa, kālānukūlena svādiṣṭānnena bhojayitvā paritoṣayām āsa |
Wika ni Bhishma: “Pagkaraan, sa pagkaing angkop sa tamang oras at pagkakataon, lubos niyang pinasiyahan ang pangangailangan ni Śukadeva. Matapos ihandog ang karaniwang paggalang—tubig sa paghuhugas ng paa (pādya), arghya, at iba pa—sinamba niya si Śukadeva nang may ganap na kaayusan, at pinakain ng masarap na pagkaing angkop sa panahon hanggang sa ganap na masiyahan.”
भीष्म उवाच
Dharma is expressed through timely and respectful hospitality: honoring a worthy guest—especially a sage—by offering traditional courtesies (pādya, arghya, etc.) and providing suitable food with proper etiquette, thereby cultivating humility, reverence, and social-ritual order.
The host receives Śukadeva and performs formal guest-honors, worships him according to proper procedure, and then feeds him with seasonally appropriate, delicious food until he is fully satisfied; Bhīṣma narrates this as an example of correct conduct.
