Ātma-saṃyama-dharma: One-pointedness of Mind and Senses (शुक–व्यास संवादः)

परम ऋषियोंने ब्रह्मचर्यके पालनसे ही उत्तम लोकोंपर विजय पायी है; अतः मन-ही- मन अपने कल्याणकी इच्छा रखकर पहले ब्रह्मचर्यका पालन करे ।।

vyāsa uvāca | paramarṣibhir brahmacaryapālanenaiva uttamalokānāṃ vijayo labdhaḥ; ataḥ manasā svakalyāṇecchayā pūrvaṃ brahmacaryaṃ pālayet || vane mūlaphalāśī ca tapyan suviphulaṃ tapaḥ | puṇyāyatanacārī ca bhūtānām avihiṃsakaḥ ||

Wika ni Vyāsa: Ang mga pinakadakilang rishi ay nagwagi sa pinakamataas na mga daigdig sa pamamagitan mismo ng mahigpit na pagtalima sa brahmacarya. Kaya, na may hangaring ikabubuti ng sarili sa loob ng isip, dapat munang panatilihin ang brahmacarya. Pagkaraan, sa pag-asa sa disiplina ng pamumuhay sa gubat, mamuhay sa kakahuyan na ang pagkain ay ugat at bunga, magsikap sa masaganang pag-aayuno at pagdurusa, maglakbay sa mga banal na pook, at tiyaking walang nilalang na masasaktan dahil sa sariling mga gawa.
