The Dove’s Lament and Celestial Reunion
इममर्थ पुरा पार्थ मुचुकुन्दो नराधिप: । भार्गव परिपप्रच्छ प्रणत: पुरुषर्षभ,पुरुषप्रवर कुन्तीनन्दन! पहलेकी बात है, राजा मुचुकुन्दने परशुरामजीको प्रणाम करके उनसे यही प्रश्न किया था
imam arthaṃ purā pārtha mucukundo narādhipaḥ | bhārgavaṃ paripapraccha praṇataḥ puruṣarṣabha ||
Wika ni Bhīṣma: “O Pārtha, noong unang panahon si Haring Muchukunda, isang pinuno sa mga tao, ay lumapit sa Bhārgava (Paraśurāma) nang may paggalang at itinanong ang bagay na ito rin. O pinakamainam sa mga lalaki, o anak ni Kuntī—may sinaunang halimbawa na ang tanong na inihaharap mo ngayon.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse underscores that serious ethical questions (dharma-vicara) should be approached through humility and by consulting authoritative teachers, and that present dilemmas can be illuminated by ancient precedents.
Bhishma tells Arjuna that the issue under discussion was asked long ago by King Muchukunda, who respectfully questioned Parashurama; Bhishma is introducing an earlier dialogue as a model and source for the answer.
