Arjuna’s resolve for Karṇa’s defeat

Educational Q&A

Even in a dharma-yuddha, the battlefield can descend into impulsive frenzy—joy in violence and the urge to overpower can eclipse discernment. The verse also highlights Kṛṣṇa’s participation in human conflict: though revered as Bhagavān, he is physically confronted, underscoring the gravity of war and the need for self-mastery amid chaos.

Sañjaya reports a close-quarters moment: groups of warriors rush the chariot and, in excitement, physically grab Arjuna and even seize Kṛṣṇa’s two strong arms. It depicts intense grappling around the chariot rather than distant missile combat.
