अध्याय ८० — मध्यंदिन-रणवृत्तान्तः

Yudhiṣṭhira–Śrutāyu encounter; Cekitāna–Gautama clash; Abhimanyu pressure; Arjuna’s redeployment

ते कृत्वा समरव्यूहं सूचीमुखमरिंदमा: । बिभिदुर्धार्तराष्ट्राणां तद्‌ रथानीकमाहवे

te kṛtvā samaravyūhaṃ sūcīmukham ariṃdamāḥ | bibhidur dhārtarāṣṭrāṇāṃ tad rathānīkam āhave ||

Sinabi ni Sañjaya: Matapos buuin ang hanay-pandigmang “sūcīmukha” (tulad ng dulo ng karayom), ang mga bayaning tagapagpabagsak ng kaaway ay nagsimulang tumusok at magwatak-watak, sa gitna mismo ng labanan, sa pangkat ng mga karwaheng pandigma ng mga Dhārtarāṣṭra. Ipinakikita ng tagpong ito ang pagsasanib ng disiplinadong taktika at tapang: ang masinsing pormasyon ay ginagamit upang basagin ang mas malaking lakas, at ang loob at kaayusan ay nakapapuwing sa napakalaking pagsalungat sa digmaan.
