प्रावर्तयत संग्रामे शोणितोदां महानदीम्‌ । मध्येन कुरुसैन्यानां पाण्डवानां च भारत

Transliteration

sañjaya uvāca |

prāvartayat saṅgrāme śoṇitodāṃ mahānadīm |

madhyena kuru-sainyānāṃ pāṇḍavānāṃ ca bhārata ||

Translation

Wika ni Sañjaya: Sa gitna ng labanan, pinakilos ni Arjuna ang isang dambuhalang ilog na ang tubig ay dugo, na umaagos sa pagitan ng mga hukbo ng Kuru at ng mga Pāṇḍava, O Bhārata. Ipinapahiwatig ng larawang ito ang kakila-kilabot na halagang moral ng digmaan: kahit ipaglaban para sa matuwid na layon, ang larangan ay nabababad sa pagdurusa, at ang kabayanihan ay hindi maihihiwalay sa trahedyang nililikha nito.
