Inquiry into the cause of Arjuna’s recurring hardship

Book 14, Chapter 89

Educational Q&A

Righteous action is strengthened when it aligns with dharma and is affirmed by both spiritual conscience (symbolized by the heavenly voice) and the moral authority of the learned (brāhmaṇas). The verse underscores that ethical resolve should be publicly accountable and rooted in right intention.

As the Pāṇḍavas proceed with a commendable decision in the Ashvamedhika context, their resolve is celebrated: a divine proclamation approves them, and the gathered brāhmaṇas’ voices of praise are clearly heard, marking communal and sacred endorsement of their course.
