Śakra–Śambara Saṃvāda: Brāhmaṇa-sevā, Anasūyā, and Vāg-bala (शक्रशम्बरसंवादः)

श्रोत्रियान्‌ ब्राह्मणान्‌ वृद्धान्‌ नित्यमेवाभिपूजयेत्‌,राजा वेदज्ञ ब्राह्मणों तथा बड़े-बूढ़ोंका सदा ही आदर करे। नगर और जनपदमें रहनेवाले बहुश्रुत ब्राह्मणोंको मधुर वचन बोलकर, उत्तम भोग प्रदानकर तथा सादर शीश झुकाकर सम्मानित करे

bhīṣma uvāca | śrotriyān brāhmaṇān vṛddhān nityam evābhipūjayet | rājā vedajña-brāhmaṇāṁs tathā baḍe-būṛhoṁ kā sadā hī ādara kare | nagara-janapade nivāsinaḥ bahuśruta-brāhmaṇān madhura-vacanaiḥ sambhāṣya uttama-bhogān pradāya sādaraṁ śiraḥ praṇamya sammānayet |

Wika ni Bhishma: Dapat laging parangalan ng isang hari ang mga Brahmin na may malalim na pag-aaral—yaong matatag sa pag-aaral ng Veda—at gayundin ang matatanda. Dapat niyang lapitan nang may paggalang ang mga Brahmin na lubhang marunong na naninirahan sa mga lungsod at lalawigan, kausapin sila nang may banayad na pananalita, magbigay ng mainam na pagkain at mga kaginhawahan, at yumukod bilang pagpupugay. Ang diwang etikal nito: ang matuwid na pamamahala ay pinatatatag ng kababaang-loob, pagkakawanggawa, at paggalang sa karunungan at katandaan.
