On Those Worthy of Honor and Salutation
अन््यं वरं वृणीष्व त्वं दुर्लभो5यं हि ते वर: । अत: जिनका मन अपने वशमें नहीं है
śakra uvāca | anyaṃ varaṃ vṛṇīṣva tvaṃ durlabho ’yaṃ hi te varaḥ |
Wika ni Śakra (Indra): “Pumili ka ng ibang biyaya. Ang biyayang hinihingi mo ay tunay na mahirap mong makamtan. Kaya talikuran mo ang pagpupumilit na maabot ang pagiging Brahmana—na lubos na di maaabot ng mga taong hindi napapasailalim sa kanilang isip—at humingi ng ibang biyaya. Ang biyayang ito ay bihira at mahirap para sa iyo.”
शक्र उवाच
True spiritual status (such as Brahminhood) is tied to inner discipline—especially mastery of the mind—rather than mere desire or demand; without self-control, such a state is declared practically unattainable.
Indra (Śakra), responding to a request for a boon, discourages the seeker from asking for Brahminhood, calling it difficult to obtain for them, and urges them to choose a different boon instead.
