Brāhmaṇya-प्रश्नः — The Inquiry into Attaining Brāhmaṇya
Mataṅga–Gardabhī Itihāsa
The verse teaches that disciplined mental focus (samāhita-citta) combined with a sacred observance at a tīrtha can yield swift spiritual fruit (siddhi) and auspicious post-mortem destiny—highlighting the ethical value of self-control, faith, and purposeful religious practice.
Within the Anuśāsana Parva’s instruction on dharma and the fruits of vows and pilgrimages, the speaker describes the extraordinary merit of staying at the Prabhāsa sacred site on the new-moon night: a single night’s concentrated observance is said to grant accomplishment and lead to rebirth among the gods.
