कुरु: संवरणश्वैव मान्धाता सत्यविक्रम: । मुचुकुन्दश्न राजर्षिजह्लुर्जाह्नविसेवित:
bhīṣma uvāca | kuruḥ saṃvaraṇaś caiva māndhātā satyavikramaḥ | mucukundaś ca rājarṣiḥ jahnuḥ jāhnavī-sevitaḥ ||
Wika ni Bhīṣma: “(Alalahanin) si Kuru, at si Saṃvaraṇa rin; si Māndhātā na may di-natitinag na tapang; ang maharlikang rishi na si Mucukunda; at si Jahnu, na pinaglilingkuran ng ilog na Jāhnavī (Gaṅgā).” Sa daloy ng salaysay, ipinagpapatuloy ng talatang ito ang talaan ng mga matuwid at bantog na hari; ang pag-alaala sa kanila ay inihaharap bilang gawaing nagpapataas ng diwa—pag-aayon ng isip sa dharma, tungkuling panghari, at huwarang asal.
