Anuśāsana-parva 17
दान्तानामपि यो दान्तो धीमतामपि या च थी: । देवानामपि यो देव ऋषीणामपि यस्त्वृषि:
dāntānām api yo dānto dhīmatām api yā ca dhīḥ | devānām api yo deva ṛṣīṇām api yas tv ṛṣiḥ |
Wika ni Vāyu: “Siya na siyang pinakadakilang mapagpigil-sa-sarili kahit sa mga mapagpigil; siya na siyang talino mismo kahit sa mga marurunong; siya na siyang Diyos kahit sa mga diyos; at siya na siyang rishi (manghuhula) kahit sa mga rishi—pakinggan mo sa akin ang pagbigkas ng isang libo’t walo (1008) na pangalan ng Panginoong Śiva na may di-masukat na kaningningan, ang panloob na Sarili ng lahat ng nilalang, na pinagmumulan ng mga daigdig at siyang pinaglulusan nila. O pinakamainam sa mga tao, sa pagdinig lamang nito ay matatamo mo ang katuparan ng lahat mong ninanais.”

The verse exalts Śiva as the supreme principle: the highest discipline among the disciplined, the highest intelligence among the wise, and the supreme divinity among gods and seers.
