प्रमाणं प्राणनिलय: प्राणभृत् प्राणजीवन: । तत्त्वं तत्त्वविदेकात्मा जन्ममृत्युजरातिग:
bhīṣma uvāca | pramāṇaṁ prāṇanilayaḥ prāṇabhṛt prāṇajīvanaḥ | tattvaṁ tattvavidekātmā janmamṛtyujarātigaḥ ||
Wika ni Bhīṣma: Siya ang kusang-maliwanag na pamantayan at kapangyarihan ng katotohanan; ang tahanan ng mga hiningang-buhay; ang tagapagtaguyod ng lahat ng lakas-buhay; ang nag-iingat sa mga nilalang na mabuhay sa pamamagitan ng pagdaloy ng prāṇa. Siya ang Katotohanan mismo, ang Nakaaalam ng Katotohanan, ang Iisa na walang kapantay, at ganap na lampas sa mga kalagayang pangkatawan—kapanganakan, kamatayan, at katandaan.
