Praise of Ācāra as the Basis of Longevity, Fame, and Prosperity
Before undertaking sacred acts, one should observe a brief purification—touching the sense-organs and sprinkling water thrice—and then perform divine and ancestral offerings strictly according to Vedic injunction, emphasizing disciplined, scripture-guided conduct.
In Bhīṣma’s dharma-instruction discourse (Anuśāsana Parva), he lays down a practical rule of ritual preparation and then directs the listener to proceed with deva- and pitṛ-related rites in the Veda-approved manner.
