समन्तपञ्चक-आख्यानम् तथा अक्षौहिणी-प्रमाणनिर्णयः
Samantapañcaka Narrative and the Measure of an Akṣauhiṇī
द्वारकायां सुभद्रा च कामयानेन कामिनी । वासुदेवस्यानुमते प्राप्ता चैव किरीटिना,तत्पश्चात् यह बताया गया है कि द्वारकामें सुभद्रा और अर्जुन परस्पर एक-दूसरेपर आसक्त हो गये, उसके बाद श्रीकृष्णकी अनुमतिसे अर्जुनने सुभद्राको हर लिया
Dvārakāyāṁ Subhadrā ca kāmayānena kāminī | Vāsudevasyānumate prāptā caiva kirīṭinā ||
Sa Dvārakā, si Subhadrā—isang babaeng may pagnanasa rin—ay nabihag dahil sa bugso ng pag-ibig; at sa pahintulot ni Vāsudeva, siya’y nakuha ng bayaning may suot na diyadema (Arjuna). Ipinapakita ng salaysay ang pagsasamang ito hindi bilang payak na pag-agaw, kundi bilang pagtakas/pagdadala na pinahintulutan ng tagapangalaga, upang ang pag-ibig ng puso ay umayon sa pagkilalang panlipunan at sa kaayusan ng dharma.
राम उवाच
The verse highlights how powerful personal desire is acknowledged in epic narrative, yet it is ethically stabilized through legitimate consent (Vāsudeva’s approval). It suggests that even intense attraction should be integrated with social and familial sanction to remain within dharmic bounds.
In Dvārakā, Subhadrā and Arjuna become mutually attached. With Kṛṣṇa (Vāsudeva) consenting, Arjuna—called Kirīṭin—takes Subhadrā as his bride, described in the epic idiom as ‘obtaining’ or ‘carrying her off’ with approval.
