Parīkṣit’s Inquiry into Vṛtrāsura’s Bhakti and the Beginning of Citraketu’s Trial
This verse shows yajñocchiṣṭa as sanctified remnants of a sacrifice, given by a brāhmaṇa as a blessed, spiritually potent gift—here bestowed upon the chief queen, Kṛtadyuti.
Śukadeva identifies the principal queen to clarify who received the sacrificial remnants, an important narrative detail in the unfolding account of the king’s household and the results of the brāhmaṇa’s ritual act.
Treat offerings and blessed food (prasāda) as sacred—receive them with respect and gratitude, and let that reverence deepen one’s devotion and dharmic living.
