FAQs

It prescribes a sequential prayoga: worship (iṣṭi), completion of a fixed japa count (50,000), abhiṣeka (ritual consecration/ablution), establishment of the fire in the homa-kunda, and finally a homa of 100 oblations.

By giving operational ritual counts and ordered steps (japa-saṅkhyā, abhiṣeka, homa-saṅkhyā), it functions like a compact manual of applied liturgy—one of the Agni Purana’s hallmark encyclopedic domains alongside polity, medicine, and arts.

The verse frames purification and efficacy through disciplined sequence—japa for mantra-siddhi, abhiṣeka for consecration, and homa for offering and completion—traditionally understood to remove impediments and seal the rite with sacrificial merit (puṇya).
