Sandhi Resolution Notes: मार्तण्डमातृदुर्गाणां is treated as a list-compound (dvandva) in genitive plural; नागर्षिहरिमन्मथैः = नाग + ऋषि + हरि + मन्मथ + ऐः (instrumental plural).

It provides an invocation framework for pūjā: calling a standard auspicious retinue of deities (prosperity, wisdom, obstacle-removal, protection, solar power, and divine lineages like Mātṛkās, Nāgas, and Ṛṣis) to sanctify the rite.
By cataloging a multi-deity invocation used in ritual practice, it exemplifies the Agni Purāṇa’s practical compendium style—preserving liturgical sequences alongside theology, showing how worship integrates many divine functions in a single procedural step.
Invoking these deities is intended to remove obstacles, secure protection, and confer auspiciousness—aligning the practitioner with dharmic forces so the ritual yields merit (puṇya) and successful completion (siddhi).
