स्नानं तु कुर्वता तेन रुद्रेण द्विजरूपिणा । भूत्वा मायामयं भीमं मकरं भयदर्शनम् । ग्राहितस्तु तदा विप्रस्तेन दुष्टेन मद्गुणा ॥ २२.१३ ॥

snānaṁ tu kurvatā tena rudreṇa dvijarūpiṇā | bhūtvā māyāmayaṁ bhīmaṁ makaraṁ bhayadarśanam | grāhitastu tadā vipras tena duṣṭena madguṇā || 22.13 ||

ขณะนั้นรุทระผู้แปลงเป็นพราหมณ์กำลังประกอบพิธีสรงสนาน ก็อาศัยมายากลายเป็นมกรอันน่าสะพรึงและน่าหวาดกลัว แล้วมทคุณะผู้ชั่วร้ายก็เข้าจับพราหมณ์ไว้ในทันที।
