ईचरौवाच । पुराऽसीस्त्वं महादेवि श्यामवर्णा मनस्विनी । नामार्थं च मया प्रोक्ता कालीति रहसि स्थिता
īcarauvāca | purā'sīstvaṃ mahādevi śyāmavarṇā manasvinī | nāmārthaṃ ca mayā proktā kālīti rahasi sthitā
อีศวรตรัสว่า “กาลก่อน โอ้มหาเทวี ท่านมีผิวกายคล้ำและมีจิตแน่วแน่ ครั้นเมื่อท่านพำนักในที่สงัด เราได้กล่าวความหมายแห่งนามของท่านว่า ‘กาลี’ อย่างลับเร้น”
