gautama uvāca | kathaṃ te jāyate mokṣo vada śīghramaśeṣataḥ | kariṣye nātra saṃdeho yadyapi syātsudurlabham
Gautama
Tirtha: Prabhāsa-kṣetra
Type: kshetra
Listener: Paryuṣita
Scene: Gautama, firm and compassionate, addresses the distressed departed: he promises to accomplish whatever is required for liberation, even if extremely hard; posture upright, hand raised in vow.
A dharmic person responds to suffering with decisive compassion, seeking the correct means to uplift the departed.
Prabhāsakṣetra is the setting; the precise tīrtha (Haripriya) is introduced in the next verses.
A commitment to perform the required rites once the proper method is known—foreshadowing tīrtha-śrāddha.
