Skanda (deduced from Prabhāsa Khaṇḍa māhātmya narration style)
Tirtha: Prabhāsa-kṣetra
Type: kshetra
Scene: A brāhmaṇa about to perform homa and pitṛ-tarpaṇa is stopped by a sage who points to blue/red garments and a blue thread; the ritual fire and offerings are shown as ‘ineffective’ until corrected attire is adopted.
Purāṇic vrata-dharma stresses congruence of outer discipline and inner intent; violating prescribed restraints is said to negate ritual fruit.
The teaching is embedded in Prabhāsakṣetra-māhātmya, framing Prabhāsa rites with strict observance norms.
Do not perform religious acts while wearing blue/red garments or the 'nīla-sūtra'; otherwise acts like dāna, japa, homa, and pitṛ-tarpaṇa are declared fruitless.
