पूर्वं यस्तु मनोस्तुल्यः सावर्णिस्तेन सोऽभवत् । यः सूर्यात्प्रथमं जातः पुत्रयोः सुरसुन्दरि

pūrvaṃ yastu manostulyaḥ sāvarṇistena so'bhavat | yaḥ sūryātprathamaṃ jātaḥ putrayoḥ surasundari

โอ้เทวีผู้เลอโฉมแห่งสวรรค์! ผู้ใดแต่ก่อนเสมอด้วยมนู ผู้นั้นด้วยเหตุนี้จึงเป็นที่รู้จักนามว่า สาวรรณิ (Sāvarṇi); และในบุตรทั้งสอง ผู้ที่บังเกิดจากพระสุริยะก่อนเป็นองค์แรก—(ได้กล่าวไว้ดังนี้)
