विश्वामित्र उवाच । एतत्ते सर्वमाख्यातं यत्पृष्टोऽस्मि नृपोत्तम । श्राद्धार्हा नागरा येन नागराणां व्यवस्थिताः । भर्तृयज्ञेन मर्यादा कृता तेषां यथा पुरा
viśvāmitra uvāca | etatte sarvamākhyātaṃ yatpṛṣṭo'smi nṛpottama | śrāddhārhā nāgarā yena nāgarāṇāṃ vyavasthitāḥ | bhartṛyajñena maryādā kṛtā teṣāṃ yathā purā
วิศวามิตรกล่าวว่า: ข้าได้อธิบายแก่ท่านแล้ว โอ้พระราชาผู้ประเสริฐ ตามที่ท่านถาม—ว่าเหล่านาคาระเป็นผู้ควรแก่พิธีศราทธะ (śrāddha) อย่างไร และระเบียบแห่งชาวนาคาระตั้งมั่นโดยชอบอย่างไร ขอบเขตแห่งจารีตประพฤติของเขาถูกสถาปนาด้วยภรรตฤยัชญะ (Bhartṛyajña) ดังเช่นกาลก่อน
