śukreṇa kathitaṃ sarvaṃ māghakṛṣṇe niśāgame | caturdaśyāṃ śucirbhūtvā yastalliṃgaṃ prapūjayet | kālāghrāto'pi na prāṇaiḥ sa pumāṃstyajyate kvacit
Narrator reporting Śukra’s instruction (Śukra as the cited authority)
Tirtha: Vṛṣanātha Liṅga
Type: kshetra
Scene: Night of Māgha dark fortnight: a purified devotee worships the Vṛṣanātha Liṅga with lamps and offerings; Time/Death personified hovers but is repelled by Śiva’s radiance, while the devotee’s prāṇa remains steadfast.
Sincere, pure worship of the kṣetra’s liṅga on the prescribed tithi grants powerful protection, even against the fear of death.
The Vṛṣanātha-liṅga and its kṣetra, whose worship is said to bestow extraordinary protection.
On Māgha Kṛṣṇa Caturdaśī (14th lunar day), at night, one should become ritually pure and perform devoted liṅga-pūjā.
