मां च उद्दिश्य भो इंद्र तद्भोगादेव संक्षयः । प्रायश्चितं हि हत्याया न दृष्टं स्मृतिकारिभिः

māṃ ca uddiśya bho iṃdra tadbhogādeva saṃkṣayaḥ | prāyaścitaṃ hi hatyāyā na dṛṣṭaṃ smṛtikāribhiḥ

“ส่วนเรานั้น โอ้อินทรา—เมื่อเจ้ามุ่งการกระทำมาถึงเรา ความสิ้นไปของกรรมนั้นย่อมมีได้ด้วยการเสวยผลเท่านั้น เพราะปฤายัศจิตต์สำหรับการฆ่าพราหมณ์ มิได้ปรากฏว่าถูกบัญญัติไว้โดยคัมภีร์สมฤติ”
