चिरं पृच्छेच्च श्रृणुयाच्चिरं न परिभूयते । धर्मे शत्रौ शस्त्रहस्ते पात्रे च निकटस्थिते
ciraṃ pṛcchecca śrṛṇuyācciraṃ na paribhūyate | dharme śatrau śastrahaste pātre ca nikaṭasthite
พึงซักถามให้ถี่ถ้วนและรับฟังให้ยาวนาน—แล้วจะไม่ถูกครอบงำได้โดยง่าย แต่ในกิจแห่งธรรม ต่อหน้าศัตรู เมื่ออาวุธอยู่ในมือ และเมื่อผู้รับอันควรอยู่ใกล้—ไม่พึงปล่อยให้ความล่าช้าเกิดขึ้น
