अग्निरूपेण तस्याश्च स ददाह महाश्रमम् । चकर्ष वायुरूपेण महोग्रेण च तां शुभाम् । एवं सिहवृकाद्याभिर्भीषिकाभिः पुनःपुनः
agnirūpeṇa tasyāśca sa dadāha mahāśramam | cakarṣa vāyurūpeṇa mahogreṇa ca tāṃ śubhām | evaṃ sihavṛkādyābhirbhīṣikābhiḥ punaḥpunaḥ
ด้วยรูปแห่งไฟ เขาเผาอาศรมอันยิ่งใหญ่ของนาง; และด้วยรูปแห่งลมอันเกรี้ยวกราดรุนแรง เขาลากสตรีผู้เป็นมงคลนั้นไป. ดังนี้เขาจึงทำซ้ำแล้วซ้ำเล่า ด้วยนิมิตอันน่าสะพรึง—สิงโต หมาป่า และอื่น ๆ—เพื่อสั่นคลอนปณิธานของนาง.
