गृहिण्युवाच । भगवन्भिक्षुकास्तावदद्य दृष्टा न कुत्रचित् । असत्कृत्यातिथिं नाथो न मे भोक्ष्यति कर्हिचित्

gṛhiṇyuvāca | bhagavanbhikṣukāstāvadadya dṛṣṭā na kutracit | asatkṛtyātithiṃ nātho na me bhokṣyati karhicit

นางแม่เรือนกล่าวว่า “ข้าแต่ภควัน วันนี้ข้าพเจ้าไม่เห็นภิกษุผู้จาริกอยู่ที่ใดเลย โอ้นาถะ หากข้าพเจ้าไม่ให้เกียรติแก่แขกผู้มาเยือน สามีของข้าพเจ้าจะไม่ยอมรับประทานอาหารของข้าพเจ้าไม่ว่าเมื่อใด”
