mahīyasāyuṣā teṣāṃ vasubhirbhūribhiśca kim | ye'bhimānadhanāneha labdharīḍhāḥ padepade

สำหรับเขาแล้ว อายุยืนยาวมีประโยชน์อันใด หรือทรัพย์สมบัติมากมายมีความหมายอะไร? ผู้ที่ถือเอาความทะนงตนเป็น ‘ทรัพย์’ ในโลกนี้—แม้จะมีที่พึ่งพาในทุกย่างก้าว—ก็ยังว่างเปล่าในแก่นแท้
