एतदिच्छाम्यहं श्रोतुमाचक्षाथां ममाग्रतः । सतां साप्तपदी मैत्री तन्मे मैत्र्या प्रणोदितौ

ข้าปรารถนาจะฟังเรื่องนี้—จงกล่าวแก่ข้าตรงหน้าให้ชัดแจ้ง ในหมู่สัตบุรุษ มิตรภาพยืนยันด้วย ‘เจ็ดก้าว’ ฉะนั้นด้วยแรงดลใจแห่งไมตรี จงบอกแก่ข้าเถิด
