पिता पितामहो भ्राता सकुल्यो जननी तथा । कन्याप्रदः पूर्वनाशे प्रकृतिस्थः परःपरः

pitā pitāmaho bhrātā sakulyo jananī tathā | kanyāpradaḥ pūrvanāśe prakṛtisthaḥ paraḥparaḥ

บิดา ปู่ พี่ชาย ญาติร่วมสกุล และมารดา เป็นผู้มีอำนาจในการยกบุตรสาวให้แต่งงาน หากผู้ลำดับก่อนหน้าไม่อยู่หรือไม่สามารถทำหน้าที่ได้ ผู้ลำดับถัดไปตามลำดับจะเป็นผู้มีอำนาจที่เหมาะสม
